The final weekend of Autumn Trails wrapped up the month with festivities, vintage charm, and a crowd-pleasing parade that has become a beloved Winnsboro tradition. Celebrating its 66th year, the event drew car lovers, families, and visitors from around the region to enjoy a perfect mix of old-fashioned fun and modern festival flair.
Highway 11 and Main Street bustled as classic cars paraded through town, led by the distinct rumble of Model A’s, followed by a variety of beautifully restored cars from different eras. Parade-goers, young and old, lined the streets, catching candy tossed from windows and soaking in the vibrant atmosphere. This year’s unofficial car counter, Mack Jordan, joked that his tally simply read “a whole lot!” as the street filled up with vehicles—a true spectacle for any auto enthusiast.
Live music kept the energy high with classic rock tunes that even inspired a few spontaneous line dances on the closed-off streets. “The C” played crowd favorites as attendees awaited the next wave of activities. Nearby, the Arts and Crafts Fair was packed with booths selling unique handmade items, while contests like the ever-popular Beard and Mustache Competition brought in new and returning competitors. Tex Willis took top honors this year, keeping his winning streak strong.
Vanora Studio captivated visitors with its “Fashion Through the Eras” exhibit, where pieces dating from the 1800s to the early 2000s showcased fashion’s evolution in a display that looked right out of a museum. Down the road at City Park, the Autumn Trails Market was alive, with vendors selling everything from antiques to artisanal crafts, making it hard for visitors to leave empty-handed.
The Pet Show, sponsored by Friends of the Animal Shelter, was another highlight. With categories like Best Dressed Pet & Owner and Best Talent, this event brought out animals of all kinds, each showing off unique quirks that delighted the audience. Meanwhile, thrill-seekers braved the heat in the Pepper Palooza contest, with Corbin “Fritz” Gordon taking the crown—and possibly a few extra heartburn remedies afterward.
For those with a sweet tooth, the Pie Contest didn’t disappoint. Congratulations are in order for Beverly Gordon, who won Best Cake with her Italian Cream Cake, and to all other winners who showcased an array of tasty desserts, from pecan to cherry pie.
The grand finale for the weekend was the Model A BBQ and a scenic Sunday drive through the Piney Woods—a picturesque end to a lively month of celebrations. The entire event was supported by Winnsboro’s police and fire departments, ensuring that everything went off without a hitch.
With its mix of history, family-friendly events, and local talent, Autumn Trails remains a cherished October tradition. Here’s to another memorable year—and to all those planning for next year’s festivities!
