On your next visit to Winnsboro, and while staying at Oaklea Mansion, make sure to check out the town’s newest family-friendly gem—Eagle’s Nest Mini Golf! Recently taken over by Stephanie and Aaron Mees, this reimagined mini golf course has quickly become a local favorite. Originally known as Creekside Mini Golf, the course has been given a complete facelift and a fresh new theme under its new name and owners.
The Mees family comes from the Houston, Texas area, where they previously ran a successful 9-hole mini golf course that was a traveling course. Their journey to Winnsboro began when Stephanie stumbled upon the sale listing for Creekside Mini Golf. Upon visiting the course and seeing the charming town, the couple knew Winnsboro was where they wanted to be—and soon after, they became the proud owners of the course.
Though the course had fallen into disrepair, Stephanie was undeterred. With the help of local contractors and artists, she brought her vision of an American Pop theme to life, transforming Eagle’s Nest into a vibrant destination. The 19-hole course features beloved Americana icons and classic roadside attractions, including everything from Elvis and Route 66 to The Wizard of Oz. Keep an eye out for the hidden Twister Easter egg on the Oz-themed hole!
Eagle’s Nest is more than just mini golf; it’s an immersive experience with cascading waterfalls, Route 66 landmarks like Cadillac Ranch, and familiar faces from pop culture, such as Lefty Lucy, Buddy Holly, the Golden Girls, and even a tribute to the first man on the moon. The course’s attention to detail and playful design make each hole a unique adventure.
Visitors can also reserve the deck for parties, enjoy a game of cornhole, or grab a classic hot dog while waiting their turn to putt. Eagle’s Nest Mini Golf is just a stone’s throw from Oaklea Mansion, making it the perfect addition to your Winnsboro getaway. A lot of love and hard work have gone into making this a place for all ages to enjoy, so bring the family and experience a bit of Americana fun!
